Adopted Dogs!

Nellie

Breed: Kelpie/Cattle Dog X
DOB : June 2009
Reason for Surrender: Abuse Neglect Case

Nellie is a 7 month old Kelpie/Cattle Dog cross. Nellie is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. When Gregory's was contacted to help this little girl who was in a situation of abuse and neglect we could not say no. Nellie, as well as another dog, was quickly removed from the situation put into boarding at the vets office while getting her ready to come to the program. Nellie arrived and quickly made friends with all of us. She is a very playful puppy who loves attention and cuddling with you. Nellie is okay with cats and seems to be just fine with other dogs. Nellie is looking for the purfect home to call her own.  Nellie weighs 21 lbs and is quite petite. A very friendly, good spirited puppy even with her not so kind beginning in this world.

HALLIE

Breed: Red Bone Coon hound
DOB: Approx. 9/07
Reason for Arrival: adopted from another shelter and upon getting her home decided she was to short

Hi my name is Hallie, I am a Red Bone Coon hound. I weigh about 42lbs and I am around 2 years old. I am spayed and up to date on my vaccinations.  I am  very easy going kind of gal.  I love people, kids and other dogs. I am not so sure of cats but I bet I would not have a problem if you could introduce me, most things just don't phase me. I love to just hang out outside and use my nose.  I like "hunting" around the area and just enjoying the outdoors. I would love to find myself a new furever home where I can be loved for me. You see I was waiting at another shelter, which was a high kill shelter, when this family came along and wanted to adopt me. All the arrangements were made so I was off to my new home. I arrived only to be told I was 2 inches to short for their liking.  I was apparently going to be their hiking dog, or as Colleen told me, their hiking mule.  I was going to carry their backpack but it hung down to low so I had to go.  Colleen says it was good as I am meant to be a dog not a mule and we will find someone who will really love me and care for me so here I am waiting for that special someone. Come on down and visit and let's see if maybe I could come to your house.

Rocky

Breed: Beagle
DOB: 9 years
Reason for Surrender: Dropped off in GGOH Driveway

A car pulled into the GGOH driveway, out came a Beagle and away the car drove. Rocky the Beagle is a sweet little guy who just wants to be cuddled. He was admitted into GGOH and then seen by Dr. Keller the following morning. Rocky was in good health, outside of a fractured tooth, for his age. We vaccinated him and tried to find his owner. Rocky did have a microchip and after receiving the information from the chip company a few phone calls were made to the owner listed. No response was had from his current owner and further investigation revealed that Rocky had been picked up a few other times by animal control and reunited with his owner but this time she ignored calls from GGOH. Apparently the owner felt no responsibility to keeping Rocky safe and completely ignored the fact he was missing. One would think you might want to have a chip removed or the information taken out if you are trying to ditch your dog.

This is a case where abandonment charges should be brought against the owner as they just left the dog to become someone elses's problem. Rocky is a wonderful dog who truly did not deserve to be given back to such an irresponsible owner so he, after 10 days, had new owner's, GGOH.  It was only a matter of days and this sweet little guy was adopted. He was such a happy go lucky guy that he never made it to our available page he has just gone straight to the adopted.  What a wonderful ending to this little guys story.

HELP US HELP HIM!!
DOG IN NEED OF MEDICAL TREATMENT

BEAR

Breed: Black Labrador Retriever X
DOB: Dec 08 Approx
Reason For Arrival: Transferred from another Rescue/Abandoned

Bear is a one year old Black Labrador Retriever who came to Gregory's after another rescue had taken him in but was not willing to address his medical condition, we believe all of our four legged friends deserve the medical treatment they need. You see Bear has Juvenile Cataracts.  He has lost a great deal of vision and is now having inflammation in his eyes and was started on eye drops to help with his discomfort while we try and find the means to have bilateral surgery done. Bear deserves to see the world around him and live a life with vision.

We are so grateful to the 2 concerned citizens from River Falls who came forward awhile back when Bears story ran in the Pet of The Week ad to donate $100.00. It is a beginning, we need to raise $2700.00 to help this wonderful boy. He is so full of life and is a gentle spirit who will make someone a loyal, true friend one day. If you can help Bear in any way please donate on line or you may mail your donation to GGOH, 1374 Hwy 65, New Richmond, Wi, 54017. Better yet if you have time, stop on out to donate and meet the remarkable dog you will be helping. Bear is up to date on all of his vaccinations, is neutered and is seeking a new furever home.

RUSTY MOORE

Breed: Golden Ret/Rott Mix
DOB: 10/07
Reason for Arrival: Running at Large/unclaimed

Hi, my name is Rusty Moore, I am a Golden Retriever mix. I weight about 75 pounds. I came into a shelter with a very bad eye infection. I was set to be euthanized when no one came to claim me. Gregory’s was notified of my plight and Colleen said I could come stay with them at GGOH. I was then sponsored by a lovely lady, Marie, in France who helped pay for my vetting that was needed and some boarding until I could get to GGOH. I was taken into the vet for my eyes, I was neutered and given all my vaccinations. I was diagnosed with Bilateral Entropian. GGOH said they would help me get my eyes taken care of. I had been boarding at a kennel for a bit before coming to Gregory’s and I am really ready to find a new furever home. I like other dogs, but, I am not so sure about cats, I like people very much. I just want to have someone to love me and teach me the ropes. If you think you could be the one for me please come on down to visit. See you real soon.

UPDATE: Rusty has had his Bilateral Entropian disorder taken care of.  He did very well and has recovered fully.  He now has no more irritation and is loving just being a dog.  Rusty is truly a wonderful dog who would make a great family pet.

Logan

Breed: Great Pyrenees
DOB: June 09
Reason for Surrender: Owner Surrender

Logan was surrendered by his owner to a high kill shelter that does not have any hold times required when a dog comes in as an owner surrender. It was Logan's lucky day, someone was watching over him as a rescue worker happened to be at the facility dealing with another situation when they came upon Logan and his situation of certain imminent euthanasia. Immediately a plea was placed to spare his life. Gregory's quickly jumped in to save this handsome puppy from death row. GGOH really frowns upon the euthanasia of any animal let alone puppies who may never even have a chance at a life because someone made a rash decision to take on a pet then quickly decided they did not want to be bothered so let's just drive it to the nearest shelter and who cares what happens. Please think and consider what being a pet owner requires, it's about them not you. Our pets rely on us for everything, you may give and give but you will always receive far more than you gave in their lifetimes.

Betsy Fitzpatrick

Breed: Pomeranian/Chi X
DOB: Approx. 9 - 12 months (Jan 2010)
Reason for Surrender: Wandering in Cold

Betsy is a little pom dog (6 to 7 lbs) and was found out in the bitter cold by an employee of a business. He let the poor little one come into their business garage to get her out of the cold. She was scared, so nobody got to get very close to her, they noticed her tail was about 3" wide. They thought that she either had feces stuck all over it or she had a very serious health issue. The other guys in the shop said the best thing was to take her out back and shoot her.  {THIS IS NEVER AN ANSWER in GGOH'S WORLD!} The employee who let her in said no way and contacted his wife, he was told to bring her home.

Her smell was absolutely gagging, the couple took her straight to the tub to bathe her. They used the shower sprayer to try to loosen whatever was in her tail, and the tub just filled with brownish/reddish water. They put on some gloves and tried to untangle the tail. It appears that she aborted a litter in the freezing snow, and all the dead fetuses were stuck in her tail, the vet confirmed the suspicion. She was going to be anesthetized and her tail completely shaved. The vet explained, because they had been rotting for days, the tail might have to be amputated. The fortunate part was Betsy only had to be shaved and she did not lose her tail. She is just a wee little girl with a great big personality.  She loves to cuddle and is very affectionate. She would love a new furever home that will keep her safe and warm and give her the kind of life she deserves.

Penny Lane

Breed: Beagle/hound mix
DOB: August 15, 2009
Reason for Surrender: Family decided "a puppy was too much work"

Hi my name is Penny Lane, I am a Beagle/Hound mix puppy. I am 16 weeks old, up to date on my vaccinations and I am looking for a loving home. I am cute as a button ( Colleen says so so it must be true) and I am so playful. I weigh about 14 lbs and I am full of energy but I also love to cuddle up and just relax in my blankies. I was surrendered to Gregory's after the people who got me from a farmer decided it wasn't such a good idea to get a puppy. I sure wish people would think about what it takes to have us so I wouldn't be getting bounced around, luckily Gregory's made room for me. Now I have a chance at a furever home where I will be loved and taken care of into my golden years. If you would like to meet me stop on out I am always ready for visitors.

Hogan

Breed: Great Pyrenees
DOB: Approx. 11/08
Reason for Surrender: Owner Surrender

Hogan was brought into a high kill shelter by his owner who no longer wanted him. GGOH was contacted by one of our neighboring rescues seeking refuge for this big teddy bear. GGOH happily took Hogan into our program to try and find him a new loving furever home. Hogan is a great big friendly boy who is good with cats, children, and other dogs. He is very smart and at times can be stubborn. Hogan is up to date on all vaccinations and is neutered. If you think you could give Hogan the kind of loving "home" he needs please feel free to visit us.

WOODY

Woody was taken in by a nice woman, Patricia, whose coworker had owned Woody but no longer could keep him when they moved to an apartment that did not allow dogs. He was kept outside most of his life on the end of a chain and needs nothing but a warm place to call his own "home" and the love and attention this big beauty deserves. Patricia says, "My wish is for Woody to get a home filled with love and attention and not to spend his life on the end of a chain". He has been groomed some and doesn't mind being brushed at all. He is up to date on shots and he is neutered. Woody is about 8 years old and in good health. Woody needs a home immediately as he is staying currently at a home where he and the other dogs are not getting along very well. If you think you would like to give Woody a new furever home please contact us today.

Zeus

Breed: American Stafford Shire Terrier
DOB: Approx 07/2005
Reason for Arrival: Abandoned

Zeus is a very loving, friendly dog.  Zeus is around 4 1/2 to 5 years old.  He is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations and awaiting a new furever home. Zeus loves to go on walks, he like most other dogs, he is questionable with cats, he has been around them with no problems but he would have to be taught the rules in his new home.  Zeus loves kids and people.  He is quite strong so you should be forewarned his walks are great workouts for you.  Zeus has been with us now for over 2 years after being abandoned by his owners who dropped him off for a 2 week stay which turned into his 2 plus year stay.  Although Zeus is a happy easy going dog he still wonders why someone who claimed to love him would just drop him off and never look back.  If you could provide Zeus with a new loving home please contact us.

FOSTER PARENTS ARE LEAVING TOWN, WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE ETHEL ADOPTED BEFORE 12/20/09

Foster Mom willing to pay $100.00 toward Adoption fee

Ethel is a 11 month old American Bulldog/Stafford Shire mix. She was viciously attacked by her owners two other dogs. Ethel was taken in by our veterinarian Dr. Swingle who graciously donated his time and expertise in fixing Ethel up. LUCY

Breed: Purebred Labrador Retrievers
DOB: Approx. 5 years old
Reason for Arrival: Family Moved and Left Behind

CAN YOU HELP THESE SIBLINGS WHO WERE LEFT BEHIND?

Hi our names are Lucy and Treasure, we are 5 year old purebred Labrador Retrievers. Both spayed females. We are up to date on our vaccinations.  We are waiting for someone to give us a new furever home. About a week ago our owners lost their home and had to leave us behind. Gregory's was nice enough to let us both in on very short notice as we had run out of options that didn't involve us possibly losing our lives. We are very very sweet girls and would love to go together as we have been best friends and sisters since we were just pups. We understand if that can't happen but we were told we could sure cross our paws and Colleen would cross her fingers that someone would be able to open up their hearts and homes to keep us together. Sometimes it just takes a little magic. We love to play fetch, hang out in the yard and just be together.  We sure love attention to and hanging out with the volunteers and staff here at GGOH.  We have been outdoor/indoor dogs most of our lives but GGOH says we can now become indoor dogs so we don't always have to be out in the colder and hotter weather.  If you think you could show us a chance at a new life together please come meet us we will be waiting.

Jack

Breed: Rottweiler Mix
DOB: Approx. 2 years (10/09)
Reason For Arrival: Moving/New Place Doesn't Accept Dogs

Jack's  owner has moved into a new home where he is not welcome. Due to unforeseen financial problems Jack's owner had to move, she was given a place to stay but unfortunately Jack is not welcome. The town house has an association and the dog is over the size limit. Jack's owner moved out of her house last Jan and has had a gentleman living at her house taking care of Jack. This is not the solution for the dog he needs a home and proper care. Jack's shots are up to date, he is neutered and in good health. He is a Rottweiler mix.  Jack is currently in foster care where he is doing extremely well.  His foster mom says he is a wonderful loving dog. "He is very smart and easily trainable". Jack is around 2 years old. He does well with other dogs, he is making frequent trips to the dog park and is currently bunking with a great big lovable Mastiff. If you can give this guy a loving new furever home please contact us at 715-246-2467.

STEVE "HUNTER"

Breed: Yellow Labrador Retriever
DOB: Approx. 10/06
Reason for Arrival:  Neglect Case

Hi my name is Steve "Hunter". I am a a purebred yellow Labrador Retriever. I am approximately 3 years old. I was brought here to GGOH by a very kind and concerned person. You see she found me to be being neglected by my owner and she could not stand by and watch this happen so she took it upon herself to search out someone to help. We there they were, GGOH, open arms to take me in. I got a ride to my new place from my dear friend then I got to go immediately to see Dr.
Keller at Countryside Vet.Things weren't so good when I arrived there. I needed emergency surgery to remove some of my intestinal tract but I made it through and I got to go back to Gregory's to recuperate and start getting some real food, you see I had lost a lot of weight waiting for my owner to feed me. I am doing so much better now and I am gaining weight, I love the other friends at GGOH I have made and everyone is taking great care of me. It isn't that I am not grateful and I don't like it here it's just I would really like to find a furever home where I can play fetch, go for walks, hang out with my new guardians and just be a dog. If you think I would fit in at your house don't wait, hurry on down and visit me, I will be waiting.

Newt (alias Rufus)

Breed: Black Labrador Retriever
DOB: Approx 4 years  (Oct 09)
Reason for Arrival: Owner gone to Iraq/family did not want to keep Newt (abandoned)

Newt came to GGOH via a concerned family member.  Newt was left behind by a woman who signed up for deployment to Iraq and left her pets with her parents.  They decided they would not continue to care for the two dogs so one was taken by another family member but Newt was not wanted and his life was threatened by euthanasia. (NOT THE HUMANE WAY EITHER) Another family member who could not have Newt at their rental property phoned GGOH for help.  We agreed to take Newt in and let him have a chance for a happy safe life with someone who really cared about his well being.  When he arrived he was very frightened but within only a few days he became comfortable and has really come out of his shell.  He LOVES! to play fetch and he likes to just be with you.  He will be an excellent friend and companion to that special person.  Newt is waiting so if you think you would like to meet him come on down.

AUSTIN!, and everything went very well, I am all healed up and raring to go.  I am very friendly and really like people and kids.  I like other dogs but haven't had the chance to meet any cat friends as of yet.  I would love to find a new furever home where I can just hang out, romp and play and just be loved.  I myself have lots of love to give.  If you think you would like to meet me come on out and say hi.  I will just be hanging with my buddies.

Abba

Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix
DOB: Approx Oct 2006

Reason for Surrender: Brought into program from a Rescue in Alabama due to threat of Euthanasia by county on all dogs at the program (123 dogs lives were threatened)

Abba, sister to Alexa and Anikan, is the gentlest of souls. She is a little standoffish at first until she can get to know you then she is just a doll. She needs a special someone who will take the time to help her know everything is okay and that she is safe with her new environment.  She loves to sleep with you and to be petted. She is very shy of the collar and leash thing still but will do okay once she is in anew setting and is built a bond with her new owner(s). Abba is overshadowed by her siblings as they are very anxious to get by people when they see them and she sometimes just gets pushed to the side. She would do best with only one other dog or if she could be the only dog she would probably love the attention and pampering. If you think you can give Abba a chance at a regular dogs life come on out and meet her we promise she is worth giving a chance to. Abba is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations.

Dean
SPECIAL NEEDS DOG

Breed: Australian Shepherd
Age: 5 years
Reason for Surrender: Hoarding Situation/Abuse and Cruelty

Dean is a special needs 5 year old Australian Shepherd.  Dean is blind and partially deaf.  Dean is up to date on all of his vaccinations and id neutered.  He will require some patience and understanding in his new home.  He is extremely friendly and is very sweet.  He does not do so well on a leash as he has never been, until now, out in the open.  He will do well once he is comfortable with his new environment.  Dean was kept in a 4 X 4 pen with his friend, another Australian Shepherd, who helped Dean around and kept him company for all five years of his sheltered house.  Upon the the rescue of Dean and his friend they were taken into a shelter where Dean's friend was euthanized and Dean was left on his own to fend in an unfamiliar environment.  Dean has done very well since coming to GGOH and has won over our hearts.  What a beautiful dog but such an ugly story.  Due to his special needs Dean will require a special dedicated area of the home for when you may be away as he does not do well at all if he was to be crated.  A designated safe area where he can be free to move about is preferred.  If you think you could provide the love and special care this lovely boy deserves please contact us for a meet and greet.  Dean will be waiting patiently for a chance at a furever home and a chance for a real dogs life.  Just because he is disabled does not mean he cannot enjoy his life to the fullest.  Dean will be in foster care until a permanent new guardian can be found so please inquire and schedule an appointment to meet this very special guy.

DOB: Approx. 13 weeks(on 07/06/09)
Reason for Surrender: Owner did not want litter from unaltered family dogs

Mosley and his sister Cookie came to Gregory's after being surrendered to a high kill shelter for no other reason than irresponsible pet ownership. The mother and father dogs were family pets that were unaltered and when they had a litter the humans did not want to be bothered with the pups so they took them off to the shelter knowing they stood a high chance of being euthanized. GGOH stepped in, once again, as the puppies should not pay the price of their lives for the absolutely selfish acts of the humans. Mosley is a very sweet pup who loves to play hard with his sister and another visiting pup we have in. He is up to date on his vaccinations and is doing well. He is okay with cats and loves children and people. He is doing well on his leash and is learning some simple commands. He is awaiting a new furever home where he will gets lots of love and attention. If you would like to meet Mosley he is just hanging around waiting for that purfect someone.

Dudley

Breed: Labrador Retriever
Age: 1 1/2 years
Reason for Surrender: Stray

Dudley is a great big happy go lucky dog.  He is mischievous and loves adventure.  When Dudley came to GGOH he was heart worm positive.  He has had his first treatment and is in foster while receiving treatment.  He has his second treatment scheduled for 06/08/09 and will be ready for adoption after the 15th of June.  He is up to date on all vaccinations and is neutered. Due to his HW positive  diagnosis it will be recommended that Dudley be treated with heart guard all year round for his lifetime.  Dudley will require a home with a secure fence as he, if able to, will sneak out for a walk through the neighborhood just to say hi.  He is very friendly and does like other dogs.  He does have some issues with other dogs and food but has been working on training for that and is doing very well.  He appears to have had some hunting training.  If you would like to stop out an meet Dudley he will be available by appointment due to his fostering.  Please call us for a time that is convenient for you as I am sure Dudley will arrange his schedule to accommodate you. Let's see if you are the one for Dudley.

Age: 3 months(06/06/09)
Reason for Surrender: Owner surrender

Hello my name is Dozer, I am an American Bulldog mix pup who is about 3 months old.  My owner gave me a inferior brand of vaccine so I developed Blue Eye.  Then after that they decided I was not the dog for them so I was left at the pound.  I was set to be destroyed when Colleen was notified by one of her contacts and she immediately helped me out.  A group of rescuers got together and donated the money for my eye surgery that was needed and Colleen arranged for me to come to Gregory's while she tries to find that perfect furever home for me.  I am pretty special you see, I may have lost my eye but I still have lots of energy and I love to play and cuddle.  I am really kinda cute, at least they tell me I am, they could be trying to be nice but I myself think it's true.  I am very friendly, I get along with all other dogs, I love kids and people, and I am okay with cats, I just like to chase a bit as I am pretty young you know.  I would need to be supervised with a cat but I would never do anything to hurt them.  I am just going to hang out with my buddies at GGOH until someone sees me and reads my story as I know there has to be someone out there who will love me enough just the way I am to give me my new furever home.  I am not really sure why my owner would just say they didn't want me, it wasn't my fault I had a reaction to the vaccine, I sure am glad there are lots of good people out there looking out for me and all my friends.  Come on down and visit, you just might want to take me home.
I am up to date on my vaccinations and I am neutered.

Angel

What did we do? Where are those people who said we meant the world to them? How could our owners leave us at Mally's for a two week vacation and never come back?  That was over 6 months ago.  We have been waiting.  Luckily Gregory's is willing to help us.  We need to find new homes.  We promise we will be good, we just want a chance. A chance to run in a fenced yard, to play in the fresh grass, to learn some obedience skills and most of all to be your new loyal and faithful companion.  We are 2 American Stafford-shire Terriers (pit bulls) .  We are 3 and 4 years old. 1 female and 1 male.  We are very friendly and very eager to please.  Experienced with children, we are willing to share our time with other 4 legged friends.

These dogs deserve a nurturing loving home.  It wasn't their fault that someone bought them and promised to take care of them, then just decided it wasn't their responsibility any longer.  HELP US HELP THEM! Call us at 246-2467 if you think you could give one of these sweethearts a home.

Scooter

Breed: Golden Retriever/Lab mix
Age: Approx. 10-11 months
Reason for Surrender:  Stray

Hi my name is Scooter. I am a GoldenRet./Labrador mix.  I weigh about 75 lbs and I am a big beautiful young boy.  I was found just wandering around in an area where animal control would pick me up and it is an unfriendly place if you get stuck there.  They would hold me for 7 days then if no one came for me I would be destroyed.  I know no one would come because I come from an area where there are lots of us strays and I have been roaming for some time now.  I was fortunate enough to have GGOH step in to help me.  So here I am, I am very friendly, I like to play fetch, I like other dogs and I have pretty good manners for never having any formal training.  I would love to find a new furever home where I can be your cuddly companion.  If you think you would like to meet me just stop on out, I will be waiting.

Lucky Lucy

Breed: Black Lab mix
DOB: Approx. 2001
Reason for Arrival: Domestic Abuse Situation

Lucky is a beautiful Labrador mix who is so gentle and friendly. She was raised in a family with children so she adores kids. She is very happy and very energetic for an 8 year old dog.  Lucky would like to go to a home where she will get lots and lots of attention and be the "queen" of the roost.  Lucky has been visiting with us at Gregory's for a while now while waiting to return to her original family but due to some unfortunate occurrences the family is unable to take her back.  We would love to see this senior dog get a home where she can spend her last years enjoying the comforts of a happy safe home.  Lucky does have a thyroid condition but is being treated for this and is responding well.  She is otherwise quite healthy and her medications are very inexpensive to administer daily.  If you think you can find it in your heart to give an old dog a new beginning please come out and visit her we guarantee you will love her as much as we do.  Lucky is waiting patiently for someone to see how truly special she can be.

Thumper

Breed: Yellow Lab/Beagle mix
DOB: 01/09 Approx.
Reason for Arrival: Abandoned

Thumper is a  a 4 1/2 month old yellow lab/beagle mix. I am up to date on my vaccinations and I am looking for some new digs, not that I don’t like it here at GGOH, but hey who wouldn’t want to relax in there own pad with some toys, good food and some special loving. I came to Gregory’s via another rescue who called on them to help. I was dumped out on someones lawn and my owner just drove off, not sure why but I was lucky the house they left me at went to the trouble of taking me in and finding someone to. I am very, very sweet, a little rowdy at times, remember I am only a pup, and I love people, big and small. I like other dogs too, they are fun to get into things with. If you would like to come down and hang out with me for a bit, I can show you just how wonderful I am and just maybe you’ll find it in your heart to give me a chance. See you real soon I hope.

Walker

Breed: Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix

DOB: Approx. 1 year
Reason for Surrender: Stray who came into shelter with infected eyes

Walker is a beautiful Shepherd golden mix.  He was picked up by animal control.  When he was brought in it was apparent he had some type if eye infection in both eyes.  Nothing was done for him as they will not provide any medical care for the simple fact they will not spend money on an animal they will be planning on euthanizing if no one claims them in the allotted holding time.  Walker was  suffering when GGOH was contacted to assist with giving him a chance at a life.  Walker received a special sponsor who was generous in paying for all of his needed medical treatment.  Upon completing his eye surgery for inverted eye lids, Walker was then set to be transported to GGOH to await a new furever home.  What a great surprise for Walker when during his transport one of our drivers fell madly in love with him at first site.  He was on his way to his new home before he could even get to his official intake at GGOH.  This is a special story of hope and faith for a special dog.  GGOH is proud to be a part of Walker's escape from the dark and lonely world of a high kill animal shelter.

Honey Bee Update 3/12/09

It's been a month since Honey arrived at GGOH. Honey is doing so well since joining us back on Feb 14th.  She had her surgery on the morning of the 17th and was raring to go by the 19th.  Honey has been recuperating nicely in her special suite back at the program. Honey is a very happy, friendly gal, even after being treated so badly by someone.  She is trusting and has nothing but kisses for those she meets.  I believe that Honey will make someone a very happy dog guardian when they adopt this beautiful husky mix.

Honey has been slowly building up her stamina by taking walks with the staff of GGOH and with her very special volunteers Brad, Cynthia and Brian.  She looks forward to getting outside but she is still tiring pretty easily so it will be a while yet until she is 100%.  She can wait, she has nothing but time now in her safe and happy environment.  She truly is a trooper.  Honeys next evaluation by Dr. Keller will be next week to see if we can begin removing the exterior pins from her shoulder area.  Through this all Honey has needed minimal pain killers she prefers lots of love and that's what she gets from all of here at GGOH.

About Honey Bee

Hi my name is Honey Bee.  I am a Siberian husky mix.  I am a little under 1 years old.  I am up to date on my vaccinations.  I was brought to Gregory's on Valentine's night.  I guess I was their valentine, they seemed really happy to be getting me even though I was in rough shape.  I was brought in when another rescue was unable to help me that evening.  I was found with what appeared to be a broken front limb that they thought was done by a vehicle hitting me.  Those nice people at GGOH asked their vet, Dr. Swingle, to come on out on Saturday night and see what he thought.

After careful examination it was determined that I was not hit by a car but rather someone wasn't very nice to me and decided to shoot me point blank.  I had to stay at the vets office and have some pain killers and antibiotics while Colleen and Dr. Swingle decided what they could do for me.  Well it turns out I had some pretty good angels watching over me cause I have been recuperating at GGOH now for a few days and it will be awhile, 6-8 weeks, but I am safe and happy as can be.  A nice veterinarian, Dr. Rasmussen from River Falls, came and helped me out. she saved my leg and I hope to be good as new.

When I am ready I would love to find a new family that has lots of room in their hearts for a sweet, very friendly and loving dog, THAT'S ME HONEY BEE!!! If you think you would like to meet me just stop on out but call first a I am supposed to stay pretty calm while I recuperate and seeing new people just makes me so happy I might get a little to excited from my nurses point of view.

You can help GGOH in helping me by donating to my medical expenses, see the donate paw on the side of this page? yep, just hit it and it will walk you through the process.  You will be HELPING THEM HELP ME!

Mr. R. Ruff Richardson/Fudgie III

Hi my name is R. Ruff Richardson, or as Adam likes to call me, Fudgie.  I am a Chesapeake Chocolate lab mix.  I weigh about 62lbs, I am up to date on my vac's and I am neutered.  I was brought to Gregory's after being dumped off at the pound by someone and I was scheduled to be euthanized until GGOH stepped in.  I am about 4 years old so I wasn't quite ready to go yet, I sure am glad that GGOH heard my prayers while I was on death row.  I am very gentle, I know some simple commands and I love people, kids and I am fine with other dogs, I don't really have any issues with cats either.  I do have a slight problem with my right eye.  I am not sure what happened but maybe when I was running around I scrapped it on something so I have lost my sight in that eye but it doesn't bother me.  I am happy just to be here.  If you think you would like to have me join your family I promise you won't regret it.  I will be your pal until the end.  Give them a call if you think you can give me my new "furever" home.  See you soon!

MAX

Hi my name is Max.  I am 8 weeks old.  I weigh about 14 lbs and I am a ball of fun.  My friends at GGOH think I am pretty cute and sweet so I am trying to keep my play down to a limit but you know it's kind of hard as I am JUST A PUPPY.  They say I am black lab with a mix of something, they are not sure and told me it really didn't matter if I was a mutt, I was so cute someone out there would like to have me join their family.

I am up to date on all of my vaccinations.  I do have a small wound that is still healing on my head cause where I was staying at before Gregory's they we not really watching me so well and another older dog kind of ripped me up a bit when I was only 5 weeks old.  My wound is healing and the vet says I will be good as new.  I like other dogs, I love people and kids and of course I love shoes.  If you think you wold like to have me over to stay for awhile, like a lifetime, just give my friends at GGOH a call.  I will be waiting.

SUGAR MOMMA AND HER PUPS
(Coco, Pixie, Cookie, Peanut,Tootsie, M&M, Chip, Hershey and Reeses
)

Sugar Momma and Her Pups Update 3/12/09

Sugar and all are doing fine.  The pups are growing so quickly.  Some of our little ones eyes have opened up fully over this past week and all are moving around trying to walk.  They couldn't be any more precious.  Momma is taking very good care of them except for the occasional stomp on one of them when Momma gets excited about people visiting.  She jumps up to look over her kennel and unfortunately she doesn't always remember to look down before dropping back into the kennel.  We hear the occasional squeal but they are all okay.

The first visit to the vet comes up in about 2 1/2 weeks and then it's onward and upward, these little guys and gals are growing quickly.  They will be ready to leave Mommas side around the 19th of April.  Watch the site for more updated shots as they grow and grow and grow.....

Sugar came to us when Gregory's intervened to save her and her pups from euthanasia.  Sugar was a stray who was found to be very along in her pregnancy when she was picked up.  We could not stand by and let her be euthanized let alone her unborn puppies.

Sugar had her babies last week and is doing fine.  She is very healthy as were all the pups.  We are now enjoying a very large family as Sugar is the proud mom of 9 babies, 6 females and 3 males.  Sugar is a purebred chocolate lab.  We will be allowing previews of the pups in about 4 weeks and they will be ready to be adopted after the week of April 19th.  Stay tuned for pictures of the pups as they grow.  If you are interested in adopting a pup you may fill out an application which will be processed and after April 1st you may pick your pup.  Contact us for more information on line or by phone.

Gregory's Gift of Hope is proud to be working with Northern Mastiff Rescue of Minnesota
to provide a second chance for this lovely girl.

Komba

Breed: Mastiff / Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix
DOB:  Approx. 4 yrs old
Gender: Female

Reason for Surrender: New baby arriving

Mastiffs are known for their protective nature, stubbornness, loyalty, loving nature,  and though she is a mix, Komba has all these traits and more!  Once she bonds and knows you, she is a loving, marshmallow of a dog and loves to lay across your lap (and most of the couch...no
one told her she's 90 lbs!).  Komba is a smart dog but a bit stubborn at times. She knows basic obedience but has a bit of selective hearing when it suits her (like when there is a squirrel, she sure doesn't want to sit obediently by your side, she wants to chase!). She would do best in a home willing to take her through obedience again so she knows and respects who the boss is. She needs a Mastiff experienced home with a fenced yard because she also embodies the protective nature of the breed. She feels the need to protect her home from intruders, whether they be other dogs entering the yard or people just walking by. On leash and on walks, she is protective so needs an owner who is quite experienced and confident enough to let her know that behavior is not appropriate or appreciated. With a firm owner, fenced yard, and someone willing to put the time into finishing training her, Komba has potential that is as big as she is! This dog has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and tested for heart worm and Lyme disease. She has not been raised with children or cats. If you think you could provide a loving new "furever" home for Komba please contact Judy at schiller@emily.net for further information.

Kato is a four year old Boxer mix.  He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations.  He weighs about 103 lbs and is a big sweet lovable doggie.  He is usually shy around people he doesn't know at first but warms up to them and then will want to play. It doesn't take him long to warm up to new people.

Kato loves to play tug a war with his rope toy . He has quite a personality when he is playing. Kato is not a high energy dog, just  usually during his play time. Kato is okay with other dogs. If you think you could provide a safe and nurturing home for this big lovable boy please call Gregory's @(715)246-2467.

 DREW

Breed: American Staford Shire Terrier
Age: Approx. 5 months (09/08)
Gender: Male
Reason for Surrender: Abandoned

Drew is a sweet, lovable and very playful puppy.  He enjoys running around you in circles to get attention and loves his chew toys.  He is doing very well on his housebreaking and is always eager to please.  This little tyke was abandoned in the dead of cold. His pads were beginning to freeze and he was very very hungry when a nice young couple found him and brought him to Gregory's.  Drew is looking for a new "furever" home that will allow him to run and play to his hearts content.  He is a very active dog and needs lots of love and attention.  He will be a very loyal friend to the one who has time to train and be his long time guardian.  If you would like to meet Drew just call and schedule a visit.  We are sure he will take a few moments out of his busy play time schedule to meet and greet you.  Visit us at 1374 Hwy 65 in New Richmond, Wi or call us at 715-246-2467 for more information.

Pancakes

Pancakes is a puggle (beagle/pug mix) she is about 18 lbs.  She loves cats and kids. She needs time to warm up to men or other dogs, it takes her awhile.  If she feels scared she may squat down and pee ( just a few drops ).
This is a puppy mill puppy so she will need some extra attention and love.  The current family that have her can not give her the attention she needs due to a baby on the way, other children and lots of traveling by the man of the house.  Her date of birth is 11-1-06.  She will be available for adoption on Saturday Feb. 9th a Gregory's First Monthly Adoption Day from 10:am - 5:00pm.  She is up to to date on shots and has been spayed.

Sweet Pea is a very friendly girl who warms up to people quickly and is very energetic.  She is tan and white in coloring and is approximately 45-50lbs.  Sweet Pea has been with us here at Gregory's for a few weeks now and has shown us what a "sweet" Pea she really is.  She is okay with other dogs and will be tested with cats during the next couple weeks.  She is good with children and may be a little timid when approached by a stranger but she will quickly become acclimated to them if given a chance .  If you think you could provide Sweet Pea with a safe and nurturing home please call us at 715-246-2467.

Millie

Millie is a cute little Pomeranian / Chi mix. She is spade and up to date on all of her vaccinations.  Millie weighs 11 pounds  and is just a sweet little gal.  We are looking for an older couple or single person for Millie to spend her days with.  Millie comes to GGOH by way of an elderly couples son.  One of the older individuals had passed away and the other unfortunately had to say goodbye to Millie as they needed more care than they could get in their home.  Millie was left alone after 7 years with this older couple.  She was brought in by the son to be euthanized at the vets office as he was unable to keep her in his home.   The vet immediately contacted us as she was so familiar with this dog and believed she should be given a chance at a new life with a new owner.  If you are looking for a sweet little snuggler Millie would love to come keep you company.  Stop out and meet her or call us for more information. 715-246-2467.

Baxter

Gender: Male
Breed: Retriever/Shepherd Mix
DOB: 7/18/2006

Baxter was surrendered to Gregory's Gift of Hope by a concerned citizen, due to his current owner not having the time to care for Baxter.  Baxter was confined to an outside kennel where he was unable to get the proper exercise he needed and was not having the proper socialization a dog needs to live a calm and stress free life.  Baxter has since joining us here at Gregory's become quite a fun loving dog.  He is always ready to run and romp outside with you and is extremely curious about his surroundings.  He has been learning to socialize with the other rescue dogs and has quickly learned all the ropes of being here with us at the program.  Baxter is good with kids and is indifferent to cats.  He needs a home where he can be the center of attention and can have a fenced yard to romp around in at his leisure.  He has learned some general obedience commands and is very eager to please.  If you think you could provide a new "fur"ever home for Baxter please call us at 715-246-2467.

Ozzy

Breed: Labrador Retriever
Gender: Male
DOB: ~2004
Reason for Arrival: Stray
.

Casey

Casey is a 2 year old pure bred Akita.  She has come to Gregory's due to being kept chained outside to a tree by a gentleman, who then when questioned on why he was treating Casey this way, would only give her to us if we paid for her.  He had no concern he was just trying to make a dollar of  a dog's misery.  Going against policy, we at the program felt it was necessary to purchase Casey to save her from another night tied to a tree in the rain. She is a lovely little puff ball. Casey weighs about 70-75lbs and is very friendly. She is adjusting to her placement at Gregory's and will be awaiting a new permanent home.

Ginger

Breed: Boxer mix
Gender: Female
DOB: Approx 7/2000

Ginger came to Gregory's after being surrendered to the Woodbury Humane Society. Her owner first approached us to take Ginger and when we were full Ginger was then taken to the shelter and surrendered by her daughter.

We at Gregory's were very concerned for Ginger with her age so we sought out the help of WHS and asked them to work with us and allow us to claim Ginger and set out to do what we originally planned on doing... finding her a new fur-ever home with a special someone who can make her last years her golden years.

Ginger is a very friendly dog.  She does well with other dogs, outside of small talking dogs, and likes children.  Ginger is spayed and up to date with all vaccinations.  If interested please call Gregory's @ 715-246-2467.
