There is currently no safe haven for cats/kittens in St. Croix County. Many communities provide no help for stray and unwanted cats and encourage residents to ignore strays or worse, take them out to the country and release them. There they may find no refuge and if they do they stand the chance of producing more and more offspring. Ignoring the problem, although some want to believe it is the answer, only increases our cat population. We at Gregory's Gift of Hope, Inc. are concerned citizens, animal guardians and of course a non-profit animal rescue/re-home program who would like to see this issue addressed in a humane and ethical manner.
We are asking you, a concerned citizen, to urge our St. Croix County government/board members to act now to acknowledge the problem and to begin to take steps to rectify this situation. We at Gregory's Gift of Hope, Inc. would like to see a unified plan to address the stray and abandoned cat population in our county. It is time the board step up to the plate and address a concern of it's citizens. We urge you to think about the situation seriously, not only do we not have any ordinances regarding cats we do not have any type of shelter to address any animal concerns. Many cats and dogs are being killed for no other reason than ignorance and a lack of governing by our board members.
