Our Mission Statement
Gregory's Gift of Hope (GGOH) is a non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to reducing overpopulation, abuse and neglect of the abandoned, unwanted, injured, ill, and discarded animals in St. Croix County, WI and surrounding areas. GGOH is run entirely by compassionate, like-minded individuals, who volunteer their time and resources to help save the lives of "those who speak another language". We care for these animals at our 4,000 sq. foot facility while they await their new homes . Since we began in 2004, we have successfully placed hundreds of animals in loving new "furever" homes.
We are a 501(C) 3 non profit organization; our Tax ID# is 20-4956164.
Our Vision
Gregory's Gift of Hope is dedicated to the following visionary goals:
-
The rescue of lost, abandoned and discarded animals in our community and surrounding areas.
-
Provide food, shelter, emergency and routine vet care to those in need; provide training and rehabilitation to those souls that may have had a rough start in life; and provide lots of LOVE to each and every animal that comes through our doors.
-
Educating communities that "THESE LIVES MATTER" through various methods, but not limited to, giving back to the community, participation in special events, school & nursing home visits, holding adoption events, and fund raising events.
-
Promote spay and neutering to end the suffering of overpopulation and unwanted animals.
-
Adoption of healthy, socialized animals back into loving homes.
Immediate Goal
-
Build a strong sustaining donor base, allowing us to continue our fight to save lives and provide shelter, food and care for those in need. Sustaining donors are the bread and butter of any rescue that does what we do. Consider becoming a sustaining donor today.
The Future of GGOH
-
Construct an addition to our current building allowing us to have a larger kitten/cat area (Kitty Kat Lane) for all of our fabulous felines while they await their new furever homes.
-
As part of our Sanctuary and Hospice program, erect a building (Kelso's Korner) for our elderly, handicapped and special needs dogs where they can be safely and more comfortably sheltered until fosters or adoptive homes can be found or, they are returned "Home" to their maker.
What We Do
Gregory's Gift of Hope sits on a 5.8 acre site in New Richmond, WI where we not only provide necessities such as food, shelter and medical care for our rescued dogs and cats, but also the loving arms of people who genuinely care about these animals. On any given day you may find between 10-15 rescued dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds and anywhere from 150-180 kittens & cats residing at our facility (or in foster). We actively search out suitable homes for these dogs and cats by listing them on our website, Facebook, Adopt-a-Pet, Petfinder and other affiliates of these sites. Our screening process includes an in-depth application, reference checks, personal interactions, and a home visit to ensure the applicant's home and family is compatible with the pet's needs and our requirements. We ask adoptive owners to sign a detailed contract obligating them to give the animals a loving, safe home.
Gregory's Gift of Hope also actively educates our community about spaying, neutering and microchipping their pets and showing compassion to the entire animal kingdom.
Why We Do It
According to the latest data from the World Animal Foundation, around 690,000 shelter animals are euthanized each year including 330,000 dogs and 360,000 cats. (http://worldanimalfoundation.org/cats/how-many-cats-are-in-the-world/) In the U.S. Many of these animals are happy, healthy, adoptable pets that are needlessly euthanized because of the simple fact that they don’t have a home.
Gregory's Gift of Hope works tirelessly to decrease this overwhelming statistic and promote the notion that "These Lives Matter".
How We Do It
Gregory's Gift of Hope is run entirely by volunteers who are dedicated to helping homeless dogs and cats. We do not receive any state or governmental funding. Only by support and donations from private individuals and local companies who care and want to support us are we able to carry out our mission to help the homeless population. Based on our countless years of experience housing rescued dogs and cats, it is estimated that the yearly cost for basic care for a dog or cat can be anywhere from $1,250 to $1,500. This cost includes food, routine veterinary exams, spay/neuter/vaccinations, and heartworm, tick and flea treatments. This represents an average annual cost to Gregory's Gift of Hope of over $150,000. We need your support!
(EMERGENCY AND UNEXPECTED HAPPENINGS INCREASES THESE NUMBERS TREMENDOUSLY)
